Evaluation
Featured40 Minnesota - October 2021
You could always almost see Rachel’s eyes scanning the floor and with her high IQ, she is evaluating where the weak points are in the defense. Once she spotted that weak point, she would go expose it for score with ease. She put on a show with her strong and consistent drives off the bounce. Her shooting stroke was silky smooth in the midrange, or 3-point land and she was likely burying the shot with or without a contest hand in her face. Another thing that is always noticeable with her is the tireless energy she brings to the court. If she is ever tired on either side of the game, you could never tell with her effort that never takes a dip. Her area of opportunity would be focusing in her defensive energy because at times she would be called for fouls just closing out to hard or reaching for a ball. While she has fantastic timing on defense and moves her feet well, just being more selective when to explode for steals or blocks will help reduce fouls and keep her and her effectiveness on the court longer.
Featured40 Minnesota - November 2020
Rachel showed off her tireless work ethic and high energy game at the Featured 40. She showed off her quick foot speed that allowed her to get past defenders in a flash and into the openings on the court. Without the ball, she was in constant motion and pulling defenders towards her. Her area of opportunity would be to look for her shot more. At times, it seems her unselfishness had her turning down openings and looking to get it to a player that may not have as good of a shot or view to the basket. Her scoring ability is strong and she has the ability to make the defense pay in multiple different ways.
Summer Showcase (MN) August 2020
Rachel is a long guard who has post-moves she can throw at defenders. She has strong footwork both on the perimeter when she gets past her defenders as well as if she gets into the pain to attack off the bounce or posting up a smaller guard. She has the ability to maneuver around defenders with a drop-step or a spinning layup that leaves defenders feet seemingly stuck to the floor. The area where she could help take her game to the next level would be the reading of the defense. At times she can get herself into trouble making a move into traffic instead of using the counter move to go away from the group of defenders. Her footwork is already so strong that adding the counter moves to the bag of tricks will have matchups struggling to keep up with her in the paint.
