Midwest Kickoff Classic 2023 Watching McGregor this weekend, you could see that see played in constant motion. She was never seen ball watching or getting stagnate. She would constantly be seeking openings in the defense or would be setting screens to get her teammates open looks at the basket. She also displayed her next-level strength with the ball in her hands either attacking off the bounce or creating passing angles to put her teammates in a position to score. She played with her head up and you could see her scanning the court constantly looking for the weak spots in the defense and has an excellent passing vision that allowed her to put passes on the money and got it through small windows of opportunities with regularity. An area of opportunity for her this weekend would be just to not to forget to look for her own scoring opportunities as well as get her teammates involved. It seemed that at times she had open looks from outside the arc which is her known specialty and she still passed up open looks at times. She was very unselfish however just has to strike that good balance and scoring and passing without being too unselfish. Featured40 Minnesota - October 2021 Claire was the definition of physicality at the event. She was one of the strongest guards throughout the entire day. She can simply power through defenders on her way to the basket. She had the ability to finish through contact better than almost any guard seen during the day. On defense, she made quick moves into passing lanes and multiple times came up with steals and instantly started marching up the court on the fast break. Her area of opportunity would be looking to score from midrange or 3-point range more often. With her unstoppable ability to absorb contact and get in the lane, that is often her go to shot and with the amount of contact that can be taxing being hit or bodied an entire game. Taking moments to avoid contact will not only save her energy but also help open the lane for her powerful drives. Featured40 Minnesota - November 2020 Claire showed that she is a physical guard who still loves to get out in the open court. Her ability to get out and up the court quickly has only continued to improve and be a key part to her game. She also showed that in half court sets, she has a physicality that allows her to absorb contact and get into the paint for layups or close-range baskets. Her continued area of opportunity would just be to continue to work on her outside shot. She can hit them and continuing to make that a bigger part of her game will allow her to have more space to attack off the bounce. Summer Showcase (MN) August 2020 Claire is a force in the fast break. She can get out and run the fast break better than a lot of players. She can fill any of the lanes needed to and she can finish the shot, or she can put the pass right on the money for a teammate for a quick hitting layup. She doesn’t even seem to tire going up and down the court while opponents are gasping for air, she is still flying up and down the court. She has a really good passing ability as well. Not only are her passes accurate but they have a zip on them to get to the target before defenders can even react. An area of opportunity for her would be in the half court. When the game slows down, how can she still use her speed and scoring to be effective in the half court. If she becomes a scoring threat both the fast break and half court sets, then she will be a nightmare matchup to try and stop from scoring.
