Evaluation
Featured40 Minnesota (November 2020)
Casey showed off her improving ball handling skills at the Featured 40. She had moments of bringing the ball up the court and handled pressure from the defense. She showed off her consistent perimeter shooting as well to compliment her growing game off the bounce. Her area of opportunity would be continuing to use her ball handling to maneuver her way close to the basket. Her speed and physicality allow her to be able to finish through contact and in traffic.
Minnesota Fall Exclusive (October 2020)
Casey can be a physical post presence for her team and can also step out and have the ability to hit shots outside the painted area. She seems to thrive using her strength and physicality around the basket for close range baskets. She has good footwork that allows her to maneuver past defenders or at times she went right over defenders. She showed that she can finish with either hand or on either side of the basket. In terms of rebounds, she is a tireless hustler on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. She uses her body to carve out space under the basket and seals off opposing players as she would go secure the ball for her team. Her ability to hit the offensive glass gives her teammates the confidence to shoot as they know if they happen to miss, Casey is roaming the paint and likely to go after second and third opportunities. Her area of opportunity would be her willingness to look to shoot. She is more than capable of scoring, even out to the free-throw line extended but she at times seems to turn down open shots looking to get her teammates involved. She is a capable scorer and making defenders have to worry about her on both sides of the ball, that will allow her to have even more of an impact on the game.
MN AAU State Tournament - May 2021
Casey showed off her versatility at the state tournament by playing both inside and outside. She showed a strong ability to get out and run the floor on the fast break while looking to score early buckets. She also showed she is capable of rebounding and transitioning into handling the ball and bringing it up the court for her team. In the half court, she made strong basket cuts into the openings in the defense and scored multiple times on the backdoor maneuver. Casey also showed she is not afraid of physicality in the paint as she would hold her ground and carve out space while fighting for rebounds in a crowd or looking to perform a post move with her back to the basket. An area of opportunity would be to continue strengthening her outside shooting. She is a capable shooter with a nice shooting stroke so continued work on her confidence and willingness to shoot the long ball should help pull defenders out of the paint or give her the option to burn them if they sag off her outside the arc.
