Fall Exclusive 2022 Riley is a name people in MN should start getting used to hearing when it comes to rising scoring stars. She showed throughout the event that she can score from all three levels on the court and there was very little defenders could do to stop her. She is getting quicker and quicker at getting her feet set behind the arc and was lethal behind the arc anytime she got a hint of an opening. She also showed the ability to run her team from the lead guard position and had a good balance and staying aggressive looking for her scoring opportunities and creating openings for teammates when she would pull in defenders. Her area of opportunity would be continuing to add distance on her outside shot. She already is nearly automatic when she right at the line, and adding more and more range will force defenders to come out farther and leave even more lanes for her or her teammates to take advantage of on the offensive side of the court. MN Featured40 2022 Riley had an effective and productive day with her high-level ability to score the basketball. As a known knock-down outside shooter, she showed a fantastic read on when defenders were closing out too hard and blew right past them off the bounce. She showed a strong ability to finish on either side of the basket and could finish with either hand on the move. When it came to rebounding, she showed good effort crashing in from the weak side and came up with her fair share of weak side offensive rebounds which she both turned into second chance points or kicked out to open shooters for good looks behind the arc. Her area of opportunity would be to work on adding a jump stop when she is attacking off the bounce. When she feels defenders trailing as she drives, a strong two-footed jump stop along with a pump-fake will send defenders flying past her and give her tons of open looks. She has the body control and ball handling skills to really use this effectively in her game. Summer Showcase MN 2022 Riley showed off her knockdown outside shooting ability throughout the two-day event. She has an elite-level ability to know when she has enough space to get the shot off or how to create enough space by getting the defender to start backing up and then pulling up for the 3-point shot. She also showed that she is capable scorer off the bounce. She put the ball on the floor and looked to attack around the rim and used her speed to beat defenders to the basket and quickly laid in the ball. Her area of opportunity would be to add a midrange pull-up jumper to her offensive toolkit. With her ability to shoot and get to the basket, she will be keeping defenders on their heels and as they are backing up quickly to prepare for her drive, added a stop and pop midrange pullup that she could consistently hit would make her a triple threat and could force teams to throw multiple defenders at her or risk allowing her to score on them at will.
