8th Grade
JAS Middle School All-American 2023 Emery played with absolutely zero fear while she was on the court. Despite giving up height, she would crash in fighting for rebounds almost every possession and she did a good job of beating others to the ball to secure it and then start bringing it up the court for team. Another aspect that noticeable about her game was her quick hands. If opponents brought the ball down, she would make a quick swipe and come up with the steal or deflection. Multiple times she was able to stop her matchups attack by throwing off their dribbling or handle on the ball. She showed that she is a creative ball-handler who can get herself into the teeth of the defense with ease. She has the skillset that you can tell she has put in the work to grow her offensive abilities. When attacking she did an excellent job of protecting the ball with her body as she laid in the ball. Her area of opportunity would be to continue to would on extending her offensive game. Adding an effective midrange shot or even a perimeter face up shot will help keep defenders guessing when she is on the that side of the ball.
