My name is Natalie Rudnick. I have lived in Seymour, WI my whole life. Ever since I was little you could always find me outside. I grew up in a dead end road in the country with no other kids nearby so I had to keep myself busy. Basketball started when I was in third grade. My dad put a hoop in the driveway and it gave me a reason to be outside. So I would shoot and dribble every day in the summer. It became part of my daily routine. My dad would come home from work at night and we would do a little more work before dinner. A training facility opened by my house when I was in about 5th grade. My mom and I stopped in to see what they had for me. That’s when the flood gates opened. We met a trainer named Mike. He started me on a strength and conditioning program that I still do today. Harry Boyce owns the facility and I started training with him. My skills improved and I learned to love the game even more. The feeling of “being home” in that gym is like no other. I started small group sessions where I met some friends that enjoyed basketball as much as I did. We developed a friendship that was more than just basketball. As I got older the facility I went to “The Workshop” got busier and busier. I continued to meet people with a passion for basketball when I was training with one of their trainers John, I realized if I’m going to improve I’m going to have to make mistakes and get through it. He was the guy that let me make the mistake and then gave me the tools to do better next time. We all need people like this in our life. I really developed a strong work ethic and set standards for myself when I watched some of the older athletes there become successful. I want to be that successful. I’m determined to do the work to get there. I don’t take the easy way out or accept less than. If there’s a will there’s a way. My dad spends a lot of time at the gym teaching and challenging me. He coached me all through my youth years which gave me the support to get through anything. Believe me, it was nice to have. Basketball has made me very disciplined in every aspect of my life.

Film Evaluation Natalie showed off a coveted combination of guard-like ball-handling and smooth post or back-to-the-basket moves. She has a strong handle with the ball and showed she was not going to be stopped from getting to her desired areas on the court. Her ability to control the dribble in traffic and still have the patience to let defenders fly by or not speed her up as she maneuvered her way on the court. She also shows that she was equally comfortable finishing with either hand off the bounce around the basket and does not allow contact to stop her from focusing on finishing. Her area of opportunity would be to continue to work on not bringing the ball down to the smaller guards or defenders’ level around the basket. At times, she would bring it down, allowing them to swipe at it or attempt to knock it away from her.
