Kensley was a high-IQ guard when she was on the court for her team. She was never going to try something outside of her comfort zone or be rushed into a bad shot or poor pass. Her ability to weave past the defense and get two feet in the paint put a lot of pressure on the defenders to either slide over and leave open a shooter or risk her hitting a short jumper close to the basket or a layup at the rim. Her area of opportunity would be to look to score more. She fits the mold of a pass-first guard; however, when she does look to score, her shot is both capable and effective, and she has the ability to make the defense pay for ever giving her an open look on the court.
