All-American Showcase 2022
Avery brought a high-energy and active effort to the court for the event. She seemed to be all over the court on both sides of the ball. As a known 3-point shooter, she showed that she has an expanding skillset as she was a consistent threat to attack off the bounce and score around the rim. She showed a strong body control to be able to maneuver around and through defenders for easy layups at the rim. On defense, she did a good job of moving her feet and keeping her matchup in front of her. Her area of opportunity would be to have the confidence to look for her shot. While she was a notable willing passer, at times it appeared she turned down open looks from outside the arc or when she had a clean look at the basket. With her shooting stroke, she should continue to always look for her shot as strike a good balance of when to pass.
Minnesota Fall Exclusive (October 2020)
Avery seems to always be cool, calm and collected anytime she is on the court. She shows a patience that doesn’t allow defenders or pressure defense to speed her up on her shots or with her ball handling. She has the skills to maneuver herself close to the basket and finish with quick drives all the way to the basket or can pull out short runners or floating shots in the painted area that catch defenders off guard. If given the space, Moeller showed that she can consistently connect from mid and long range. An area of opportunity for her would be not turning down open shots. She is such a willing passer and looks to get teammates involved that at times she turns down open shots from areas that she is more than capable of connecting from.
Summer Showcase (MN) August 2020
Avery is one of those steady players that coaches can know what they will get from her game in and game out. She plays within herself and doesn’t try to do anything that is outside her skillset. She runs the court and fills the lane strong when her team is on the fast break. She is comfortable shooting jumpers and even floaters at the free-throw line along with stepping out and connecting from 3-point range with regularity. Her area of opportunity would be knowing when to give the defender a pump fake and getting past them. At times, she would shoot the 3-pointer over a hard contest when a well-timed pump fake would have sent the defender flying past her. If she has that move in her back pocket, defenders won’t be able to close out on her consistent 3-point shooting with as much force due to fear of being burned on the drive.
Holiday SZN Showcase (MN) 12/30/2019
Crafty leftie that displayed a smooth looking 3-point shot. Provided multiple hustle plays and won the 50/50 balls for her team. Showed a smart basketball IQ in reading defenses and leaking out for easy baskets. Read passes well and picked off a few for steals. One thing she will need to work on is getting over screens on defense. She didn’t seem to fight as hard to get over the screens at times and her player would get into the paint or past her to a place on the court she will need to cut off.
