SCOUTING REPORT

Minnesota Fall Exclusive (October 2020)

Ava is a feisty and fearless guard who likes doesn’t seem to back down from any challenge out on the court. She has strong ball handling skills that allow her to try and maneuver her way inside the arc to create close range shots. She has a solid read to know when the defense is far enough away, and she has the space to get the shot off. Her ability to shoot from midrange and close range consistently makes the defense have to play her honestly or risk giving up points. On defense, she is a hard worker and moves her feet well to keep opposing players in front of her. She quickly can slide through screens and recover to her matchup before they can get past her for an open look. Her area of opportunity would be willing to look for her own shot more often. While it’s a strong ability to look for teammates, it at times leaves her turning down open looks. If she can make the defense have to pay attention to her on offense, she will help space out the defenders and leaving opening for herself or teammates to attack.

Holiday SZN Showcase (MN) - 12/30/2019

Small guard who showed good hustle on defense. Had no problem staying with her matchup on that side of the ball. She showed good effort going for loose balls. Was unafraid to go into a crowd to try and find her way to the basketball. At times she was able to sneak past taller players to secure rebounds. She appears to want to play in an up tempo style as she would usually go right into starting the fast break when she would get the ball in her hands. She showed a good ability to pass the ball and in fact even had an impressive lob pass down to her waiting post player and shows a solid passing vision that I expect to continue to grow as she develops as a player.
