Minnesota Fall Exclusive (October 2020)
Amaya is a physically imposing guard who is effective on both sides of the ball. When she has the ball in her hands, she is able to create both inside and outside shots. Her strength allows her to absorb contact while driving off the bounce and she shows she can finish through the contact and complete and-1s. From the perimeter, she has crafty ball-handling skills and can create space for her outside shots with impressive step-back moves. In terms of the defense, she uses her physicality to wear down opposing guards and has the footspeed to keep guards from getting past her. She also does a good job making the shooter have to take shots over her with a strong contest as she doesn’t easily bite on pump-fakes or moves that guards try to attempt to get free. Her area of opportunity would be looking to make the extra pass to open teammates once she drives. She has a good passing skillset and her ability to power into the lane allows her to pull in defenders and swinging the pass to open shooters will help her team keep the ball movement going and have plenty of open shots.
