The grand finale for the 2020 class in terms of club basketball came to a close this July, and it is going to be a shame to watch them go! In terms of depth, this is the most talented class to come through Nebraska in a long time! The 2020 class has many more college prospects than either the 21 or 22 classes. This also appears to be the case with many Midwest states. A number of girls would have received offers from “larger schools” if they were in the 21 or 22 classes, but due to the impressive depth across the board many colleges were able to land “steals” in the 2020 class.
Two major off-season stories set the tone for an exciting club season. The first was Nebraska Attack moving from being a BlueStar sponsored program to joining the new girls Under Armour league. The UAA reviews have been incredible in year one. The competition, amount of college coaches, and organization of the league exceeded expectations. Nebraska Attack 17U UAA finished 5th at Nationals proving they belong among the best in the country.
The second major story was the creation of Team Factory. When Brittany Wilson and OSA parted ways after last Summer she started a Team Factory Girls program. More than a few girls followed her in year one which helped create a talented Team Factory 17U team.
There are many excellent choices in the 20 class for our all state AAU teams. We begin with the top player from the best team in Maddie Krull. The Nebraska Attack 17U UAA product committed to South Dakota in 2018, she is one of the best PG’s in the Midwest, and has an excellent motor. Krull is joined on the 1st team by her Attack teammate McKenna Minter who is the best scorer in the class, and is a recent Seton Hall commit. Nyayongah Gony from CSS Bison has an extremely high ceiling, and has many college coaches interested. Morgan Maly from the Nebraska Lasers is a high level scorer who can hit from deep and a Creighton commit. Rounding us out is Olivia Hollenbeck from CSS Bison, who’s size created matchup problems for teams, is a Fort Hays State Commit.
Team Factory 17U lands two on the 2nd team with Nicole Avila-Ambrosi who is an athletic playmaker & Jasmine McGinnis-Taylor with very good size and upside they are committed to Cal Baptist & Illinois State both making it. Whitney Brown from CSS Bison had a great season is a skilled point guard, and will be walking on at Nebraska. Both Parker Stafford & Ella Wedergren from Nebraska Attack had big July’s. Stafford is an excellent interior defender, and has verballed to Eastern Illinois. Wedergren is a very good shooter, who can guard on the perimeter, and a Rockhurst commit.
We did our best to take into consideration the competition level on our 1st and 2nd teams. Who you played and how you performed in those games do factor in.
Congratulations to all these young ladies!
