The Jr All Star Florida Holiday SZN Showcase was a talent packed event which gave players a chance to showcase their talents and develop their skills over a day of teaching and competition. Without a doubt the best players in the state of Florida were in the gym. (Part 2 of this recap including more players will be published on Thursday 1/7/2021)
Kailani Merrell 5-10 Guard 2026 – Was the one on one champion Merrell definitely showed why she’s considered one of the best players in the country in her class. Definitely did not disappoint and you can see the potential which will make her a Power 5 recruit as she continues to improve and grow. Merrell can really shoot the ball from 3 and is great going to the rim. Despite being long and thin she does not avoid contact and gets to the rim in a crafty way to score the ball. Very impressive player.
Ciara Hayes 5-5 Guard 2026 – Hayes is a fiery competitor who despite her size can get to the rim and really score the ball from anywhere on the floor. Hayes can score at all 3 levels – at the rim, from 3, and has a strong pull up game. Hayes has a confidence and demeanor that others follow and makes her teammates better. Hayes is an extremely good and crafty ball handler and will be one of the elite point guards in Florida in the near future.
Kali Barrett 6-0 Wing 2025 – Barrett is going to be an elite player in Florida in the class of 2026. Barrett already has a college ready frame and is a great finisher around the basket with good size. Barrett can score in the mid key, handle the ball anywhere on the floor, and can shoot the 3. Barrett dominated the interior rebounding the ball and blocking shots all day and should be on Power 5 schools radar starting today.
Pinky Sturdivant 5-10 Wing 2025 – Strong guard who really shoots the 3 well, great getting to the rim down hill, and is elite for her age. Sturdivant is another player who is in a line of talented players coming through the Clearwater area. Likely high major shooting guard or wing player in time. Sturidvant is a great teammate with a good attitude who always looks like she’s having fun playing the game.
Alahni Lovett 5-6 Guard 2025 – Lovett was one of the biggest stock risers from the event. I think when you talk about point guards in Florida’s 2025 class she is it at this point. Lovett has great range, can score at will, great passer, understands the game, and is the quickest player on the court at all times. I was overly impressed and you can see she will be the next big time point guard in the state of Florida.
Kennedy Guy 5-5 Guard 2026 – Guy has showed well at Show and Prove and now at the Holiday SZN Showcase earning herself a Top 10 2026 ranking in Florida. Guy is a crafty lefty who never quits. Guy is one of the best shooters for her age in the state of Florida, a good on ball defender, and extremely intelligent basketball player. With the amount of talent in the gym last weekend Guy definitely stood out and you can tell she is always up to be challenged by other elite players in the state and constantly seeks out opportunities to get better.
London Guy 5-1 Guard 2027 – London was one of the few 6th graders in the gym competing with future Power 5 8th graders and I was impressed with how she competed each and every play. London had a great attitude and worked well with her teammates. London has a strong skill set for a player of her age – finishing with both hands, handling the ball, and a good passer. There is no doubt as she gets older she will be a player to watch in the state of Florida.
Breah Usry 5-6 Guard 2025 – One of the hardest working players in the gym all day with a fantastic attitude. I think when you work with Breah all day you realize she is going to work to be the best and accomplish her goals. In the long term this translates into becoming a really good player. Breah is a great shooter who hit shots all over the floor in drills and games as well as handling the ball at the point guard spot. Breah is fearless attacking the rim and made an impression on everyone in the gym.
Ailani Collazo 5-7 Guard 2025 – A major stock riser at the camp was Ailani Collazo. The 5-7 8th grader from Orlando is one of the best rebounding guards I have seen and competes every single play no matter the game or the drill. Collazo also showed she was an elite shooter at the event knocking down big three’s in competitive sessions. I think that Collazo is going to develop into a tough lock down guard which coaches will quickly desire to get on their roster at the next level. Collazo is a team first player who communicates well with her coaches and teammates which adds a lot of value to her already strong skill set.
