Again remember these articles are titled RUMOR MILL so these are just the rumors you wont see on twitter the game behind the game type thing. Recently Nike has rumored to have cut two programs which we have documented on this site.
Now neither Nike or adidas currently have a program in Georgia but that could change very soon. Team Elite has been rumored to have been cut by the Nike EYBL is rumored now to possibly be joining the adidas 3SSB. This is significant because Team Elite is still trying to resurrect their program instead of just giving up on the club after being cut by the EYBL. Team Elite is the second best program in Georgia having a McDonalds All American in 2021 with Kayla McPherson who signed at North Carolina, Jillian Hollingshead who signed at Georgia and sporting Top 2022 Flaujae Johnson this past season. For Team Elite the top end talent has been there and they have been able to flip juniors into their program for their last club season to get a jolt like Hollingshead and Johnson. Unfortunately for them its been not the blue chip players who’ve been missing but the tough blue collar kids which ultimately prevented them from winning and keeping their Nike deal. Now if they are with the 3SSB look for adidas to have a strong presence in the South with 3 teams in Florida (CFE, Hoop Dreams, and Team Knight) and now the second best program in Georgia. The bigger question is what does Nike do in Atlanta now that they have essentially given up on having an elite program in the state. Georgia talent is down (see Team Elite’s results this past year) which is why programs like FBC have really branched out heavily in to North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama to sustain their top billing – FBC isnt necessarily just Atlanta but more elite players across the South. For adidas they had so many weak programs in their circuit the addition of Team Elite just continues their quest for competition with Under Armour and Nike who’ve lets be honest had stronger rosters of teams recently.
