The South in club basketball had become a pretty boring place. Alabama was run by the Alabama Southern Starz, Georgia had been dominated by FBC with some on and off successes by Team Elite since the exit of the Georgia Metros and Florida was a three way race between Essence, Miami Suns, FGB. This had been true since Team Elite won their last Nike Nationals. This off season has seen some new clubs with some major players including some of the top players in the region who will be wearing a new uniform this summer.
Team Product (South Carolina) – Kyomi McMiller 2024 Guard has relocated to South Carolina and immediately became one of the Top Prospects in the Palmetto State. Ranked as high as No.2 Nationally by some services McMiller is worth the price of admission. Team Product will run out of Columbia, South Carolina will play in the new Select 40 league and will be the closest thing the state of South Carolina has to an elite platform. The South Carolina 76ers are no longer with Under Armour and the Upward Stars have been added by adidas but if McMiller adds a strong supporting cast they’ll be the top team in South Carolina this year. | Team Product Instagram |
Team H20 (Georgia)- Team H20 made a literal and figurative splash adding Milaysia Fulwiley (Top 10 2023) this off season. Fulwiley played in 8th grade with the South Carolina 76ers and the last two years with FBC United. Fulwiley is one of the most flash and heralded prospects in the country and is a cornerstone to a successful club season. Fulwiley will join Samiah Puckett 6-3 2023 Forward as the anchors for the first year program which is rumored to have deep pockets. | Team H20 Twitter |
Southeast All Stars (Georgia) – In the early 2000’s Brandon Clay operated one of the top club teams in the country which helped get his scouting service and event business really booming. From North Carolina’s Krista Goss to Baylor’s Mariah Chandler Peach State Elite then Southeast Elite was one of the top clubs in the south. Clay’s team would play many of the top teams in the country and play in some of the top events in the country. Clay GM’d the team and he’s brought that model back for this season. Sean Smith, former Division I assistant will be coaching the team and they have already added Diana Collins (committed to Georgia) from FBC and Tianna Thompson from AOT. I also like the addition of Kyla Cain who I saw a couple times already this year and was impressed with. Rumors fly around players Clay trains in Florida possibly joining the program as early as next week which could cripple some of the 3SSB programs in the state. The only downfall could be who the All Stars will play as they are slated to play a full schedule of Peach State Events in 2022. If the events are not competitive nationally then it could cause top prospects to waiver some. If they can get elite teams to come play they’ll be one of the best programs in the South. | Southeast All Stars Website |
Supreme Team (Georgia) – We have talked about the Supreme Team before in some of our earlier articles. They have had a pretty good off season adding Sanaa Tripp, Chadazi Wright, Jania Adkins, and Tyler Jones. The defining players for the success immediately of the Supreme Team this year will be if they are able to add Jessica Fields and Danielle Carnagie who played for Essence last year. The team will have a tough schedule being in the UAA in year 1 it’ll be interesting to see what roster announcements come down in February and March. | Supreme Team Twitter |
Always 100 Florida (Florida) – Really the only “new” program of sorts in Florida is a hodge podge of people working on putting together teams. Gilman Farley moved to Florida from Indiana after working with the adidas sponsored Always 100 in Indiana. David Gaulman willbe coaching the 17U team with Kennedy McClain, Olivia Davis, Liv Fuller, and Jordyn Byrd in year one. Always 100 will look to crack the monopoly shoe companies have on the top teams and programs in the state of Florida. David Callazo will coach the 9th grade team after spending last year with FGB, 2020 with DME, and previously being the Orlando Future Starz. Always 100 wont have the advantages of their Indiana counterparts being sponsored by adidas and will play an independent schedule in 2022. | Always Florida Twitter |
