The Florida AAU Jamboree and Media kicked off the Florida AAU season with more than 30 teams being the largest girls event in Florida to date. Sponsored teams such as FGB and Hoop Dreams joined some new kids on the block in Team Tre Mann and J Sizzle in some highly competitive games in Deland, Florida. We will be covering this event for several days in articles but here are some of the biggest takeaways.
The post pandemic world of AAU has really shifted early in the season since the pandemic. New teams are popping up around the state and have many of the state’s top players. This was very apparent at the Florida AAU Jamboree this weekend in Deland.
Big Takeaways
New Programs Shine – There has been a theme across the south of new teams in our post pandemic club basketball world. Two of these programs are both backed by current NBA players. J Sizzle is sponsored by Orlando Magic 1st Round Pick Jalen Suggs and are out of the West Orlando area and Team Tre Mann is sponsored by Tre Mann, former University of Florida Star out of the Northwest Central Florida area between Lake – Alachua Counties.
Team Tre Mann has an extremely strong 9th Grade team led by PK Yonge’s Zion McRae (2025) and Ashlyn Young (2026) had great showings. Both are athletic guards who have a bright future. Both led Team Tre Mann this weekend and made them one of the Top 9th Grade teams in Florida this travel season.
Team J Sizzle was possibly the team of the weekend especially their 2024 team which beat FGB. J Sizzle is led by Talia Kemp who is a quick guard who can really defend on the ball and has a great feel for setting her teammates up on offense. Kemp is joined in the backcourt by Jasmine Bocca who shot the ball well this weekend and despite her size has big game. Sariah Johnson showed why she’s one of the top freshmen in Florida dominating inside and showed she is one of the toughest kids in the state. Janiya Swift is a 7th Grader who is going to be one of the best players in the country. Swifty handled pressure from older guards and made plays all weekend. Aubrey Satterfield 2026 is one of the best young guards in the state. Satterfield showed a steadiness at the point guard spot and is very seasoned for her age. Aubrey Horn 2024 showed quickness and toughness at the guard spot. J Sizzle is extremely deep and talented at guard. Jenica Suggs is new to Florida from Minnesota and sister of the Orlando Magic’s Jalen Suggs. Suggs had a breakout weekend shooting the ball with great size.
