Iowa HS Season Rewind – Players Who Stood Out

Here’s a look at some players who had excellent seasons this past winter:

Jeena Carle was a versatile player for Lincoln High in 2021-2022. She scored, she rebounded, she defended and Carle shared the basketball for her Lynx team. She was an efficient scorer that converted on 45% of her shots from the floor. Each game, Carle would crash the boards hard. She grabbed over 5 rebounds a game and collected almost 2 offensive boards for her squad each game.

Lucy Scott is a special guard for Lewis Central. She let her team in points, steals, three pointers made during her sophomore season. Scott drained 52 three-pointers in 23 games and shot over 36% from the floor. She is a dynamic player that changes her speed and is able to handle the basketball against most any press. In 2021-2022, Scott was named to the Hawkeye 10 all-conference first team. She was only underclassmen to receive a first-team honor this season.

Sydney Rexius scored nearly 11 points per game while shooting over 35% fro, the field and 71% from the free throw line for the Sioux City North Stars. She is an active player that can record stats in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots at the end of any contest. Rexius is an elite defender that forces turnovers and turns the steal into immediate points for the North Stars. Rexius gives all that she has when she is on the basketball court. She is a hustle player that makes positive plays occur for Sioux City High.

Emily Naughton was an elite junior for Indianola in 2021-2022. When the basketball is in Naughton’s hands, fantastic things happen on the floor. She scored for her team, she rebounded with effort, and she created havoc on defense. She is also an exceptional passer that is unselfish and willing to make the extra pass. On defense, Naughton was a pest. Each game, Naughton forced nearly 3 steals for her team while passing for over 3 assists. She will be playing on the club team Lady Pure Prep this summer.

Pearl Reisz led her St. Albert squad in scoring this season. She was able to score in transition, in the paint, from the three and the free throw line as well. Reisz has great vision and the ability to find her teammates on time in transition. She is also a great decision maker within the offense. Reisz has a high basketball IQ and the ability to create for her team.

Carlee Julius found a way to grab over 11 rebounds per game in her sophomore season. She scored on many of those offensive rebound putbacks during the year for Des Moines Lincoln. Additionally, Julius was a fantastic defender that blocked shots several shot attempts and forced multiple steals per game for the Railsplitters.

Brooklyn Stanley scored the basketball with proficiency in her sophomore year for Bishop Heelan. She is a spectacular athlete that rebounds the basketball and can score in bunches for the Crusaders. Stanley has a pretty outside shot and range from behind the three-point line. She knocked down 43% of her three-point attempts this past season and earned over 5 trips to the free throw line each game for Bishop Heelan. This summer, she will play for the South Dakota Attack club team.

Jada Piercy scored 10 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and collected steals on defense each game for the Spencer Tigers in 2021-2022. She is an amazing athlete that changes her speed well in transition and the half court. This past season, Piercy was second on her team in three-point field goals made and free throws attempted.
