Day 2 at the Select 40 did not disappoint. There were competitive games throughout the day and lots of great 1-on-1 match-ups. Lots of great performances on Saturday, but these are the players that made their mark and rose above the rest!
Here is a look at the standout players from Day 2 at Select 40 Session 1 (East):
- Jaida Civil – 2025 – East Coast United Family 2024
While Civil excels at scoring in the open court, it was her ability to create her own shot in the half-court that sets her apart. Her ability to elevate on her jumpshot and use her athleticism to have acrobatic finishes makes her as tough to guard in single coverage as anyone in the Select 40. Civil has great court vision and is a constant threat to torch the opposing defenses.
- Brooke Baisley – 2024 – United NJ 17U
Baisley showed the ability to score the ball in a variety of ways. She has a knack for moving without the basketball in order to get herself to scoring spots. Baisley can attack the rim aggressively and shoot the 3 with efficiency.
- Alison Bisbell – 2024 – MI Mystics
Bisbell had a lot to show the competition and college coaches this weekend. She has great hands and the ability to score on both sides of the rim. She showed the ability to guard quicker wings on the perimeter and can lock down the paint when she is playing inside. On display all weekend was Bisbell’s ability to affect the game on both ends of the floor.
- Orlegh Gormley – 2024 – MCW Stars
Gormley is a creative PG that does a great job getting down-hill and aggressively attacking the basket. Her ability to attack the rim opens up scoring opportunities for her teammates & Gormley makes the passes to set them up. She has great court vision and ability to push tempo.
- Alanna Tatum – 2026 – East Coast United Family 2025
Tatum is an athletic guard that sets the tempo on both ends of the floor. She is an aggressive and active defender that heats up the other team’s guards. Great defensive rebounder for a guard and turns those rebounds in transition points for her team. Tatum is crafty in the paint with strong finishes at the rim.
- Christiana Gordon – 2025 – Sideline Cancer Dynamite 2025
Gordon proved to be one of the great young scorers at the Select 40. She is a dominant scorer that can string together buckets in consecutive possessions. Gordon has the strength to finish with contact and has a variety of finishing moves in the paint.
- Riley Dean – 2025 – Team Tre 16U
Dean is a multitasking PG that can distribute the ball well and is an effective scorer. She has an outside the arc game and is efficient from the 3pt line. Dean also displayed the ability to finish in traffic when attacking the rim.
- Kira Reynolds – 2025 – Legends U 16U
Reynolds has guard skills in a forward’s body. She has the ability to score from anywhere on the court effectively and is just as deadly with the ball in her hands as she is creating scoring opportunities off the ball. Reynolds can score on either side of the rim and her face up game makes her a tough match-up one on one for any position.
- Lillian Merow – 2025 – Wisconsin Lakers 2025 White
Merow was battling inside all weekend for the Lakers. She consistently worked on getting deep post position in the paint and displayed the ability to finish when she got the ball. A workhorse when it comes to rebounding on both ends of the floor, Merow gets her team extra possessions. She showed patience on the block and the ability to finish on both sides of the rim.
- Aaliyah Guyton – 2024 – Mac Irvin Fire Godfather
Guyton has the pedigree but she is putting her own mark on the game. An elite level PG that has great tempo and control of the game, she fills the stat sheet. Guyton has an explosive first step and uses her quickness to create scoring opportunities in the paint. She has a variety of finishing moves in the paint and knocks down the 3 well enough to keep the defense honest.
