Another summer is in the books! There were many powerhouse programs that handled business per usual, as well as some programs that emerged and took the AAU scene by storm. We consulted with several AAU coaches and directors, college coaches, and event organizers to compile these rankings. Our rankings have a heavy emphasis on each club’s 17u team and their performance in July. Here is a look at our Top 150 Club Programs of 2022!
- West Virginia Thunder
West Virginia Thunder only lost one game in July (to Mass Rivals) and won the UAA in one of the best games in travel basketball history. They handed FBC United their only July loss in two years, other than to another FBC team. The Thunder will be dangerous down the road as they return 2 of their top 3 players in the program in 2023. - FBC United
FBC United had another banner year and it took multiple OTs for them to fall in their first UAA game outside of the loss to the Family in 2021. FBC United ran through the spring and first half of July before losing to West Virginia Thunder in the UAA Finals. In 2023 FBC will return the top two 2024s in the country, looking for revenge in the UAA. - Cy Fair
Cy Fair won the EYBL. Despite not winning any of the previous EYBL stop, they came through to knock off Exodus in the Finals even without one of the top 2023s in Texas, Gisella Maul. Aaliyah Chavez was just a freshman, but Chavez and Chloe Clardy were one of the best courts in the country this past summer. - Pro Skills
Pro Skills won two Nike EYBL stops, at Boo Williams and Iowa. Laci Steele and her squad were the favorites to go into July and win Nike Nationals, especially with all the movement around USA Basketball. - Team Lex
Team Lex won the Adidas National Championship, and according to the circuit website they didn’t lose a game in the circuit the entire year. - Northwest Blazers
The Northwest Blazers had a 3rd place 17u finish in the UAA and come in as the top team in the West during the 2022 season. If that wasn’t enough, the cemented a spot in the top 10 by winning the 16u UAA Championship, going 14-1 on the season against a very good field. - Team Takeover
Team Takeover was hit hard with some losses to USA Basketball, but has one of the best signing classes nationally in 2022. Always the class of the DMV, Takeover had as good of a year as you could without winning an EYBL stop or Nike Nationals like they have in the past. - Mass Rivals
Rivals were the odds-on favorite to win it all in Adidas, after winning the Prime Event East. Rivals had a large lead over FBC United in early July before losing late. Rivals did not win Adidas, but they were one of the best teams and programs nationally in 2022. - Cal Stars
The Cal Stars could have been THE team of the summer of 2022, but had 3 players with USA Basketball which prevented it. They were a team who in the spring was nearly unstoppable and is one of the best programs in the country year in and year out. - Wisconsin Lakers
The Lakers won the inaugural season of the Select 40 and were pretty dominant in doing so. They had a strong finish at Run for the Roses, despite not winning it (Final Four). They were the best non-shoe team in the country in 2022. - Exodus
Exodus broke in at #11 after multiple upsets and getting into the championship game at Nike Nationals. Exodus was loaded with talent and finished their EYBL season strong despite losing in the Finals to Cy Fair. - Philly Rise
Philly Rise won Nike Nationals at the 16u level, and their 17u team was on a roll until Hannah Hidalgo burst onto the scene as the best guard in the country and played on the USA Basketball U17 team. Philly Rise could have been a contender at Nike Nationals, had she been with them. - Wisconsin Flight
Their first year in the Nike EYBL was a successful one, as they won the EYBL stop in Louisville. The Flight came in with the #1 seed moving into Nike Nationals and finished in the top 10 as well. With returning their top player, they could be a contender for the EYBL crown in 2023. - All Iowa Attack
All Iowa Attack was hurt by some absences and injuries, which may have resulted in their lowest finish since they have landed on this poll. Despite that, they have talent across the board and are one of the best teams in the country. - Supreme Team
Formerly FBC the Family, which won the UAA a year ago, a re-brand was successful with some of the best young players in Georgia having a stellar year 1 under the Supreme Team. - San Antonio’s Finest
Here is another example of why Texas GBB is so good. San Antonio’s Finest had a strong year in the Adidas 3SSB with a young talented roster, after winning the 3SSB Championship in 2021. - Fairfax Stars
It was a bounce-back year for Fairfax. Despite losing Kiki Rice, they were one of the top teams in the EYBL and DMV. - Legends U
New name, same results. Legends U transitioned in July from Sports City U and won the Select 40 at the 15u and 16u levels. Despite being so young, Legends U had a strong showing in July at the 17u level in the Select 40 as well. - North Tartan
North Tartan had a competitive season at 17u in the EYBL, but especially shined at the 16U level, where they won the Iowa stop, before losing to Philly Rise in the Finals at Nike Nationals. - Nebraska Attack
Nebraska Attack’s 2023 class has been playing up at a high level for several years, and this was their year. They placed 5th at UAA Finals and had several impressive wins throughout the year. Their season was also highlighted by their 15u team winning the UAA Championship - Southwest Elite
Southwest Elite won Run for the Roses and had a strong showing in Year 1 of being in the Select 40. They were littered with high-level 2023 signees, which made them one of the best programs in the country. - Minnesota Fury
Following an appearance in the UAA Finals last year, the Fury was upset in the first round this year before finishing UAA Finals 4-1. Their younger teams were impressive as usual, highlighted by a Final Four appearance at the 16u level. - Jason Kidd Select
There were lots of strong showings all of the spring and July for the 2nd year program out of Northern California. JKS’s best year might be next year, as their best prospects are in the 2024 class. They could be a contender to win the Select 40 in 2023. - Mac Irvin Fire
Mac Irvin Fire was the runner-up at the Roses and had a strong showing in the Select 40 in Year 1. Mac Irvin had one of the more electric young backcourts in the country. - FGB
FGB’s 17u team finished 5th at Run for the Roses and were 9-6 overall in the UAA. They were led by ESPN No. 11 Taliah Scott, who is headed to Arkansas. - Arkansas Mavericks
The Mavs played some games without the Nation’s Top Player Mikaylah Williams, which slowed them down in the first half of July but they bounced back to have a strong finish. The Mavs finished lower than some predicted, after a Top 20 finish in 2021 which propelled them into the UAA. - Northwest Select
NWS burst onto the scene this year, led by 2025 Jasmine Davidson, one of the top 2025s in the country. They have the pieces to be a pre-season Top 20 team for 2023. - Sports Academy Swish GBL
They made it to the Elite 8 at Nike Nationals, with a huge win over All Iowa Attack in the first round before losing to Pro Skills. They had a TON of firepower, in JuJu Watkins, MacKenly Randolph, and MeArah O’Neal, but were missing Watkins and Randolph to USA Basketball. - New Heights
New Heights made a great July run, all the way to the finals of the Select40 league. They also boasted two LSU commits, Aalyah Del Rosario and Angelica Velez. - Kentucky Premier
A ton of young talent kept Kentucky Premier in the conversation as one of the top programs in the country. - Missouri Phenom
