As the 2021 travel season approaches many clubs are ramping up their impact on kids to get them recruited and developed as last year was mostly lost to COVID. The Lady Blue Chips are one of the premier programs in South Florida and will be joining FGB for the 2021 season. Exclusive access to events and an affiliation with Under Armour will be critical to the players in South Florida to continue to establish themselves as one of the top programs in Florida. Here we go discuss the partnership with FGB and an outlook on the 2021 travel season.
JAS: Tell us about your program how did you get started and the history of your program.
LBC: The Lady Blue Chips was started in 2017, I felt there was a need to generate additional opportunities for girls based in South Florida. Within three years of operation we have generated eight full ride scholarship opportunities for our girls at various different collegiate levels from an independent platform.
JAS: What is the goal for your program and players?
LBC: The goal for our program will be about generating scholarship opportunities various different levels through the game of basketball. I want to make sure our players are properly prepared to take advantage of all opportunities competing in national and regional level events.
JAS: Why did you decide to join FGB for the 2021 travel season?
LBC: Working independently has been a beautiful struggle with well over 15 years of coaching experience at various different levels having this opportunity to become the Florida Girls Basketball South Director is completely an honor. Understanding the importance within being a sneaker brand affiliate in regards to travel basketball is absolutely critical for girls in the future. I feel by joining forces with Florida Girls Basketball, this will provide opportunities for the girls of South Florida to showcase themselves on a national and regional level.
